DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn the Meantime\nPaul wrote the book of Philippians as a letter to the church at Philippi as an\nencouragement to them to remain joyful, united, humble, and faithful to\nChrist despite their suffering and opposition both inside and outside the\nchurch. Paul wrote this letter while in prison awaiting a trial with an\noutcome that could mean his execution and yet 19 times in the epistle, Paul\nspeaks of his joy.\nBoth Paul and the church in Philippi found themselves “in the meantime” or\nthat time between two events or seasons. Paul encouraged them to\nremember the past and keep their eyes on the future, but not at the\nexpense of the present or meantime. He encourages the church to pursue\nspiritual maturity, to stand firm in their faith, and to live with peace,\ncontentment, and generosity with Christ as their source of joy.\nAt Western Hills Church, we too are in the meantime or interim time\nbetween seasons of ministry. We want to honor the past while keeping our\neyes on the future, but we can’t miss what God has for us in the present or\nmeantime. “The Meantime” is not a time to coast or wait. It is instead the\nthreshold of what is to come that is built on the foundation of where we\nhave come from.
